I laughed, I cried, and now I have a migraine

Well we got to enjoy almost a whole week with my parents, but all good things have to come to an end. So at 8:00 yeterday morning they had to start on the first part of their trip back home which was going an hour down to Moberly to spend 2 days with my brother and his family before making the rest of the trip. Arowyn very much adores her Grammy and with tears in her eyes begged Grammy to stay here with her but to no avail, Granpy whisked Grammy away anyway. To get the kids mind off of the departing Granpy and Grammy we took the kids out to take the car through the car wash. You see Cham has fond memories as a kid getting to go through the car wash watching the suds spraying on the car, and the pretty colors of the wax, and how the water beads up and runs off through the drying cycle. I can at least say with certainty that the plan definitely worked just not the way he was hoping. We get the car into the car wash and the door closes behind us so we're essentially trapped for the next 5 minutes no matter what, at least the actual car wash went alright and nothing happened to the car. But what was happening inside was another matter, when things started moving and spraying suds on the car Arowyn starts bouncing in her seat for joy just like Cham was hoping for but Teagan on the other hand was screaming in shear terror at the soapy thing beating on the car that sounded like it was trying to get in. So after enduring a 5 minute crying jag from our son who cause himself to be sick from to much crying sometimes, so I'm thinking it's a good thing we're at a cleaning station so I can vacuum him off after the car wash if we need to. Fortunately we were released from the car wash with nothing worse than ringing ears from all the crying. After getting home we find that we forgot to lock up the our bigger dog Serenity and she decided to spill my milk from breakfast onto the floor so she could lap it up unfortunately it got knocked down near the living room so the kitchen floor was clean but the carpet in the living room was another matter. She then proceeded to rip into 2 bags of peanut butter cookies devouring three-fourths of the cookies before we got back. Because I've been down with a cold Cham cleaned up the mess so I could go take a nap. About 2 hours later I woke up just in time for lunch to find Cham in the kitchen nuking leftovers in the kitchen for us, unfortunately when he stepped out of the kitchen for a minute Serenity decided to help herself to his steak and baked potato, needless to say he was none to happy with his dog today. Well at least after that things calmed down for awhile and I was able to get both the kids down for a nap. As the hour gets later and the kids still hadn't woken up I try to slip the kids into the car so we can go pickup the car, it was at the shop to get the seat belt replaced but we found out earlier this morning from the mechanic that we bought the right side belt not the left side belt so nothing got worked on after all, and drop the Grand Am off for a friend of a friend to use for the weekend. Well we got in such a rush that it wasn't till we were about 3 miles from the house that Arowyn speaks up and says " Daddy I have to go potty" this is when we realized that our daughter who we are just getting potty trained is wearing panties and this could get messy very quickly. So I take some shortcuts I don't normally use to get us home faster while Cham turns around and keeps telling her to cross her legs and then starts discussing the weather to try to get her mind off of needing to pee. I was very relived when we finally had the house in sight. Fortunately she made it all the way to the potty without an incident and took care of business the minute she sat down in the bathroom. After she washed her hands and came out I gave her her chocolate candy as a reward but instead of eating it she gave it to Teagan and instead crawled up in my lap and said she couldn't eat her chocolate because she was sad. When I asked her why she said it was because her Grammy had left her so she was sad. It's always hard on everybody when the Grammy and Granpy leave. Pretty soon after that it was time for Cham to leave for work, after finding everything so he can leave and seeing him off I go look for the kids who were both hiding in Arowyn's bed for some reason. When I step in the room I smell something very rotten smelling, it was Arowyn, there are not many things that could be worse than cleaning poppy underwear. After getting that little mess cleaned up I take the kids into the kitchen and fix dinner for us. After taking 2 bites of her mac and cheese Arowyn asks for some chocolate milk. Shortly after I give her the chocolate milk Teagan starts trying to steal her milk. So I get him his own cup and pour him his own little dribble of milk from her glass. Unfortunately both the kids were paying attention when I did this and after Teague finished the milk I gave him, Arowyn herself refills his glass from hers but gave him a much larger amount than I would have gave them which he proceeds to spill most of down himself but she's happy to give him another refill. Instead of drinking this time he wants to refill her glass so they just keep pouring the milk between each others glasses making a sizable mess of the table and floor. Why you may ask did I not stop them sooner, I don't know I just have a complete fascination with the way my children think and the many things they think they should do. Well I clean up that mess and then proceed to do the dishes while the kids eat their fruit roll ups. When I go over to check on them because they seem to be finished and wanting to get back to the living room and their play, I find that Teague has an absolutely horrific diaper that is going up his back so I do my best to protect the carpet and change this diaper without making a mess which I was unsuccessful at because once i got the tabs undone Teague grabs the tab of the diaper and trows it which fortunately lands face up but unfortunately when I grabbed for it his poppy bottom left and imprint on my carpet like a stamp would on a piece of paper. After getting this little mess cleaned up and him re-diapered I see Arowyn standing funny so I tell her to go sit on the potty. After a couple of minutes I go check on her and Teague walks in and I tell him to leave or he'll get a spanking, because he likes to play in the potty. Well I turn around to see Arowyn taking the bowl out of the potty chair to empty it into the toilet which she dose in a very ungraceful manner and splashes pee all over that area of the floor so I empty the bowl for her and prompt her to wash her hand. Once I get the bowl back into the chair and turn to check on Arowyn I hear little feet running back into the bathroom and just as I turn I see Teagan slip on the pee on the floor and fall down so I make sure he's alright then I spank him for coming back into the bathroom. Teague is a softhearted little guy and doesn't have to get spanked very often and I must of broke his little heart cause he went on a horrible crying jag. So after getting Arowyn's hands washed and dried I go check on Teague who is still bawling so just as I go to calm him down he blarfs all over the living room floor and then one more time before I can get him to the kitchen sink but by then of course he was done. At this point I'm at wits end because Teague needs cleaned up but so does the floor and the only paper towels are downstairs and I can't leave Teague in the kitchen sink by himself or he might jump, and I'm just waiting for Arowyn who is in the living room to accidentally step in it so the only thing I could think to do was to call cham and ask him to come home for a minute to bring me some paper towels from downstairs. Cham thankful was able to come home for a couple of minutes and helped get the messes cleaned up. Unfortunately I must of left a roll of paper towels in the living room after we finished d cleaning up. Because after he left and I finished washing the counter tops down in the kitchen I find half of it unrolled and strewn around the living room. So after collecting all the paper and disposing of it I call my mom to tell her about the wonderful day I'm having only to have the kids go quite on me while I'm on the phone. So I keep it short say goodbye then go look for them. I find them in the bathroom with Teagan stripped down to his birthday suit and Arowyn holding him down on the potty saying "now go potty Teagan." After getting Teagan redressed and rocking him for a couple of minutes he falls asleep and I put him to bed. On my way back from his bedroom I stop in to check on Arowyn who I thought was using the potty but was instead bathing Teagan and hers panda bear and tiger cub toys that are mechanical and make sounds and move. I find the panda already bathed wrapped up in a washcloth to dry and the tiger receiving its bath when i walked in while its making its little I'm a distressed baby tiger sounds Arowyn's bathing it saying "good kitty, its ok kitty, almost done" the tigers bath seems to of not hurt it but the panda now is not making the same noises it used to make. Arowyn finally fell asleep so the drama for my day came to an end. All I can say is it was just one of those days.

Warning artists at work!

After talking to a friend of mine at the front door for about 20 minutes, which I thought I was safe doing because Cham was in the living room with the kids. Which I realize I was wrong in assuming that when I go upstairs and fing that Cham isn't watching the kids instead he's taking a shower. So that means for the past 20 minutes the kids have went completely unsupervised, and a lot can happen in twenty minutes. I come upstairs to find the living room still in perfect order with Arowyn playing behind the living room recliner but I can't seem to find Teagan. That's when I hear noise in the kitchen so I turn around and sure enough Teague has somehow gotten over the baby gate that separates the living room from the kitchen and is sitting on the kitchen table pulling Cham's current pair of sunglasses apart. So a little bewildered at how he got into the kitchen in the first place, seeing that there is no chair pushed up to the gate or anything that he could of used to get over it with, I step into the kitchen and happened to look down where I see black scribbles all over the floor, then I notice it's also on the table, & chairs. Laying next to the big scribble on the floor is the uncapped black permanent marker that was obviously used to perpetrate this crime. At this point I'm very confused because Teague who is the only one who could of done this being the only one in the kitchen doesn't know how to uncap markers so I figure I had better find Arowyn to see if she had anything to do with this. At this point I realize she's not playing behind the recliner she's hiding behind it because as I go to get her out from behind the recliner I see the big black swirls in the carpet, on the toy lion, the mushroom chair, and a speaker. At this point I just don't know what to do or who or where to begin with so I go find Cham and the only thing I can think to say is "see this is why I don't take a shower unless there is someone to watch the kids, they've done something and I don't know if we can fix this." Luckily with a magic eraser and lots and lots of spot shot everything is almost back to brand new. After putting it all together all I can figure is that Arowyn must of found the marker had some fun with it but knowing she would get in trouble for what she'd done she decided to plant the evidence on Teagan so she handed it to him in the kitchen where he decided to do some artwork of his own. Poor Teagan always the scapegoat. If that's not criminal genius at a young age I don't know what is.

Hair cuts anybody!

The other day as Cham went off to work he asked for his head shaving kit so when he got to work his nurse could cut his hair for him. Well it had been about half an hour after Cham had left for work and me and Teagan were playing a game on the computer, and Arowyn was in her bedroom being very, very quiet. Well Teagan decides to go see what Arowyn's up to and then I hear a door close followed by hysterical screaming and banging on the door by Teagan. I figure it's probably no big deal but I had better go check on what they're up to. So when I walk in to Arowyn's room this is what I see. Arowyn is sitting on the bed with the cat next to her with the shaving kit spread out all over the bed but with the scissors in her hand saying "good kitty" snip, snip "pretty kitty." The half crazed look in her eye is probably what had Teagan freaking out so bad because he knew that he was probably her next victim. Then I look down at the bedspread at all the white hair thinking great this is going to fun to clean up. That's when I notice that there is more than just white hair on the bedspread but also blond hair. I look at her hair and realize she had been trimming her own hair as well and when I touch her head to try to get a better look at what she had done small clumps off hair start to fall off of her head. At least in the end neither of them needed new haircuts. She fortunately only layered both her and the cats hair and the end result defiantly could of been worse. It's a good thing I had put safety covers on all her outlets or I'm sure she would have plugged in the electric razor and then they'd all be bald. Is it no wonder that with these kinds of things being an everyday occurrence in our house that I'm graying faster than my mother did.
